How are these cushions made? The art of weaving is an old technique that can be traced back to ancient history. When weaving, several threads are lined in parallel to one another on the weaving loom. Those longitudinal threads of yarn inside the loom are also referred to as a warp. The thread that is woven into the warp is called the weft, woof or filler. Threading is done with the help of a shuttle. The warp-threads are the ones that go up and down in the weaving loom (with the help of shafts and heddles. This way, the even threads can go up and the uneven threads can go down. Due to the gap this creates, it is easy for the shuttle to apply the weft. There are multiple ways to interlace the warp and the weft. Some examples include a linen weave or a twill weave. The weft is continuously pushed up by the reed  

A long time ago, a weaving frame loom was the most simple aid in the art of weaving. After that, people started using weaving looms controlled by cams, dobbies or a Jacquard loom. This last type of loom allows you to weave more intricate designs. In 1800, England already had factories with steam-powered weaving looms. At the end of the 1970s,  the computer was introduced. This caused the electronic weaving loom to be invented and its final products are as spectacular as that of hand-woven textile.
